Who Are I?

Growing up on a small farm in Saskatchewan meant chores and not much else.
One common chore on our farm was sorting wheat. This involves an auger to fill the hopper of a seed cleaner and a second auger to feed the cleaned seed into the back of a grain truck. Since summer days in a hot, dusty Quonset are no fun, I once again went to my dad who introduced me to PIC chips and relays. We built a simple box that would turn the augers off and on after a certain period of time. Leaving me 4 hours to listen to metal or game on my secure computer. Technology played an important part of my youth. It still does. And I still have chores.

Cyber Security at home in the 90`s
Sure, my brother and I would prank each other: our computers were common targets and he was relentless. One day, I begged my dad to help me, so we wrote my first C++ program to password protect my computer. Sean soon learned that he could ctrl + break out of my protection scheme. Then, Peter Norton's “New” Programmers Bible for IBM came to the rescue: we suspended the Ctrl+Break registers. This worked amazingly well. Of course I promptly forgot my password. An expensive trip to Radio Shack was part of the lesson I learned. And I still had chores.
